An overview of Chicago Improvised Comedy scene.

So, the two authors of this blog will both be moving out of Chicago this summer and therefore this tumblr will go unused unless one of you great followers would like to take it on?

Let us know!

This speaks for itself

CONVINCING YOUR NORMAL FRIENDS TO GO TO COMEDY SHOWS WITH YOU: A COMEDY NERD’S GUIDE
by Danielle Romeo

It’s refreshing to have written something for myself for a change.

Our own Danielle has some tips to help you avoid laughing alone. Though, if you are going to go alone, just say “I run a comedy blog”.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve answered the question, “Why are you going go to that comedy show alone? There is a sweet party tonight!” with the answer, “I run a comedy blog”

Paul Brittain's best SNL moments.

comedynerdsunited:

It was announced earlier that Paul got some new opportunities and jumped on them. It’s not the shortest run a cast member on SNL could have, but after only a season and a half, Paul will be missed. Of course, he created Sex Ed Vincent outside of SNL, so we can’t wait to see what he’ll think of next. Here are some of his best moments on the show.

Curious as to what these better options are but congratulations nonetheless, Paul.

Blue Topaz was a good group. Chicago misses ya!

Rebranded video, same fun show. See you Wednesday.

It’s not improv but I saw this show last night at the Playground and you should see it next week. I’m a huge fan of the anecdotal, one-man, sketch show and Daniel Shar does it well.

Daniel does a good job of making you laugh with him rather than at him. He has an endearing, confident, self-aware vibe that allows the viewer to feel like they’re reminiscing with an old friend.

Go see Stuck in Third Grade Wednesday, January 25th at the Playground Theater on Halsted and Belmont (One of my favorite venues because of its intimacy and BYOB policy — though you don’t have to be drunk to find Daniel funny. He does that all himself.)
